labor representation

Protecting Rights. Advancing Conditions. Defending the Badge.

The Alamogordo Fraternal Order of Police Labor Committee, operating as the Alamogordo Public Safety Officers Association, exists to represent and protect the sworn officers of the Alamogordo Police Department. Our Labor Committee is an autonomous entity, affiliated with the Fraternal Order of Police and empowered to act as the official bargaining unit for our members.

What We Do

Our mission is to secure and enhance the wages, benefits, working conditions, and rights of our members through collective bargaining, legislative advocacy, and legal support. We focus on:

  • Negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) with the City of Alamogordo to ensure fair treatment and compensation.

  • Providing legal defense and representation for job-related incidents such as officer-involved shootings, disciplinary actions, or criminal charges.

  • Enforcing contracts and defending against violations through grievances, mediation, or arbitration.

  • Promoting professionalism and advancing the welfare of our officers through strategic partnerships and community dialogue.

Who We Represent

Membership is open to all sworn officers of the Alamogordo Police Department from the rank of Sergeant and below.

Legal Protection & Benefits

Through our affiliation with the FOP New Mexico State Lodge, members receive access to experienced legal professionals in duty-related matters, including:

  • Legal representation for officer-involved shootings or critical incidents (must be reported within 12 hours).

  • Support for disciplinary hearings involving termination, suspension, or demotion.

  • Court representation for duty-related criminal charges.

  • Up to $3,500 per incident in authorized legal defense benefits.

All legal services must be pre-approved by the FOP State Labor Director or President and are delivered by trusted, qualified counsel.

Leadership & Oversight

The Labor Committee is governed by an Executive Board composed of elected officers, including a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms. Shop Stewards serve each shift and ensure contract enforcement and communication at the unit level.

Internal committees—such as Arbitration, Bargaining, Judiciary, and Financial Oversight—ensure ethical operations, transparent finances, and strategic negotiation.

The Alamogordo FOP Labor Committee is here to protect your rights, support your mission, and fight for your future.
